Range Safety Rule Changes:  At the last Executive Committee Meeting the new range rule concerning gong targets

was discussed, complete with a Power Point presentation It appears that the light material being blown about from

gong targets by a high wind is harmless and common.  Other shooting disciplines that regularly use gong targets, such

as, Cowboy shooting and Action Pistol, have a 10 yard minimum target distance requirement.  As a result, the 50 yard

minimum for gong targets has been rescinded and replaced with a 10 yard minimum.  HOWEVER, placing targets at ANY

distance or fashion that allows misses to strike the ground short of the backstops remains AGAINST Club rules.

Another point made at the meeting was that EYE protection is recommended at the range for all shooters and spectators.

NRA Pistol Instructors Course:  The club has agreed to allow the range to be used for an NRA Certified Pistol Instructors

Course on August 24th and 25th.  Scott Vandiver from Marietta GA is the instructor.  There is space available for additional

trainees.  The cost of the course is $225.  If you are interested in participating, contact Mr. Vandiver at guninstructor2@bellsouth.net

or 770 377-1635.  The Range will be CLOSED for other use on both days.

Alabama High Power Champs:  The club sponsored the Alabama 2007 High Power Championship at Tullahoma TN on

May 27th.  Club member Stephen Reed is the 2007 State Champion.  Reed fired a 780-19x.  State Junior Champion is Pot Shot

Mason Parker with a 756-16x.
