Range Safety Officer Training: The Club is offering NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) training. Some
government facilities require a certified RSO to be present when civilian organizations use their range. The
AEDC range is one of these. The training will take about all day. The location will be at Taylor Electric
in Madison on July 22. John Maguire will conduct the training. The cost will be approximately $75 per
student. Contact James Moses on 534-7968 if you wish to take this training.
High Power Match at Tullahoma: The Club will sponsor an NRA Approved 80 shot match at the AEDC
Range in Tullahoma on June 24th. The range will be open at 8:00 a.m. and firing will begin at 9:00. Entry fee
will be $20.00. Since this is a military range a last minute cancellation is possible. It is recommended
that you notify James Moses by e-mail if you plan to attend. You will be notified by return e-mail if a cancellation occurs.
Alabama Bullseye Pistol Championship: The championship was held May 5-6 in Tuscaloosa. Club member
Norman Robinson dominated the Marksman class, winning the .22, and the .45 matches as well as the
Aggregate. Congratulations! The Blue & Gray sponsors a match of this type each month. Beginners are very
welcome. Contact John Lindberg on 679-9361 (H) for more information.
Georgia M1 Match: The River Bend Club, north of Atlanta, recently sponsored an M1 match that drew over
100 competitors. Todd Taylor won the “rack grade” division and David McAlister won the “modified” division.
Apparently the “modified” division was somewhat elastic as rifles with aperture front sights were used. Perhaps,
to be legal “modified”, a rifle had to be placed in a gun rack along side an M1 at some time.
Alabama 4H Smallbore Championship Match: Three Pot Shots fired in the Alabama 4H Smallbore
Championship match on May 27 in Birmingham. The shooters were Evelyn Reisenwitz, Halie Pitts, and Daniel
Fox. The team took second place, Halie Pitts earned a third place award in the Junior category with a 547 / 600,
and Daniel Fox earned first place, over all, with a 575/600. Good work, Pot Shots!
