Jimmie Fordham, Bill Hocker, Daryl Kite, Laura Perry, and Howard Pitts were captured on film at the 2011 Camp Perry small-bore matches. Check-out the photos.
Keith Perry set a new range record in the Worley Match at the Blue and Gray range with a 498-24x over the 100 yard reduced National Match course on November 6th. The next day he shot at the AEDC range and fired two perfect scores at 600 yards for an aggregate of 400-32x. Way to go Keith!
Charles Kemp, a Mobile, Alabama resident, took four top spots in the 2010 National Smallbore Rifle Prone Championship at Camp Perry. The Championship consisted of the aggregate of matches 301 and 302 - iron sight and any sight. Charles came in first in the aggregate as high civilian to capture the William P. Schweitzer Trophy, high senior to lock down the Sam Bond Memorial Trophy, and he fired the high over-all in the iron sight match. He tallied-up an outstanding aggregate of 4786-338X that put him in third in the over-all aggregate to walk away with a Bronze Tone National Championship Medallion. He tied 1st LT Christopher Abalo from Glendora, CA (4786-344) for the second place score at 4786, but, missed it by just 6 X's. He fell short of first place to another Alabama resident, SSG Shane Barnhart from Phenix City, (4790-355X) by a scant 4 points. Congratulations to Shane, Christopher, and Charles!!

Kemp and his customized Winchester 52D
Brian Hunter from Blue and Gray was there and talked to Charles. Naturally, Brian, an engineer at heart, was more absorbed with the mechanics of the winning rifle and he reported:
It is a CMP 52D action with a factory trigger group that holds 3/4 lb. None of mine will go lower than 1.75 lbs without following. The rifle had a Benchmark barrel, with cut rifling and a 1:16.5" twist. It was outfitted with a Bernosky stock, Herrel tuner, Sam Gates Rear, and a Right 30mm front sight. During any sight he was using a Zeiss Zurn Divari Scope 6X24X56. The barrel was installed by Malcolm Drennon of Summerville SC. Charles claimed his rifle shoots consistent ten shot groups of .38" at 100 yards. He also mentioned he was going to buy an Anschutz rifle. It was not because there is anything wrong with the 52D action, it was because of parts availability. I did not have much time to talk between relays, and he had a bunch of people who wanted to talk to the National Champ.

Laura Perry(far left) and Danny Biggs (center), 2010 Spirit of America winners
The 2010 Spirit of America Fullbore Prone Championship was held over the week of Sept 11-18 at the spectacular NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. The individual championship is contested over four days of shooting at 300, 500, 600 and either 900 or 1000 yards each day. An interesting feature of this competition is pair firing where two shooters alternate shooting on the same target at the shorter distances. Danny Biggs capitalized on his consistent shooting to win the F-Open class. Although he didn't win any single day, he was in the top four every day.
Michelle Gallagher and Laura Perry, 1st and 2nd in F/TR 2010 Spirit of America contest
In her first visit to the windy Raton range, Laura Perry ended up tied on points with F/TR overall winner Michelle Gallagher, but lost out on the championship by five x's.

Perry did win the "End of the Trail" trophy with the high score for the last day and was in the top 3 on the other days. Interestingly, Biggs and Perry each had the highest long-range aggregate for the week. The competition produced four new NRA national records for Biggs and one for Perry. B&G club member Tom Jones finished strong in the F/TR class.
This is an abbreviated version of all the scores. There were too many competitors to post them all on this page. To see the real 'F Class' deal CLICK on this.

Two Blue and Gray members, Danny Biggs and Mason Parker, attended the F-Class National Championships (600 & 1000 yards) held in Sacramento California on 24-28 March 2010. Of about 115 competitors from the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Canada; Danny and Mason came away as winners.
Danny showed them how it was done and captured the title of Grand Senior in F Open with an aggregate of 1137 – 67 X.

In addition, he chalked-up third place for a bronze medal in the over-all competition. On his way to the Grand Senior title Danny picked up a few sticks and he:
All in all, Danny and his .284 Winchester had a pretty good couple of days. Danny holds the F Open Class National Championship title for both 2008 and 2009.
Mason Parker Won the title of F-Class Junior National Champion for the second year in a row and also came away with the title of F/TR Junior National Champion. Mason is a senior at Huntsville High School (Junior shooters are under 20 years old).

But, age was not a factor when it came to experience and Mason demonstrated his skills shooting in winds that required him to aim as far as 9 feet off the target to ensure a hit. During the five day event Mason set two new national records, one at 600 yards (15 rounds 144-5X) and the other at 1,000 (15 rounds 141-5X). In addition to the National title recognition, Mason was recognized by LAPUA on their web site.
Congratulations Danny and Mason!
